Daniel Mulhern

Daniel spent his formative years in various bands, globe trotting, writing music for films, performance and animation. Since eventually getting stranded in Stockholm after bailing from an undesired job he’s been establishing a career as a songwriter and composer. Collaborators include Craig Gannon (The Smiths, Terry Hall, Roddy Frame), producers Ken Thomas and Grantby, and composers Julian Nott and Adrian Johnston, whose scores he has regularly performed on and whose work with Stephen Poliakoff has seen Daniel provide songs for the BBC Films Perfect Strangers and Friends and Crocodiles - a relationship which continues on the Poliakoff films currently in production, Joe's Palace and Capturng Mary. As a television composer his skill and versatility is demonstrated by the variety of his work. From serious documentary series: How Art Made The World, Alternative Medicine and Attack On The Wires, to entertainment shows: Derren Brown, Balls of Steel, and the new Channel 4 series, A Perfect Night In With... Matt Lucas & David Walliams, Simon Pegg & Nick Frost, and Lenny Henry.

Daniel finds that performing is a perfect way to rebalance the solitary nature of writing for film and TV so he has fashioned together a group of like-minded souls and in the interests of sanity, social therapy and modest guinness consumption they gig a lot. Daniel's distinctive voice has been described as possessing an intimacy capable of handling a variety of musical environments with equal conviction.

In 2005 they went out to a fishing lodge in Salisbury to do some recording. Happily, the results prompted the NAIM label to work with Daniel and his debut album as a singer/songwriter was released in 2006 (links to iTunes/HMV/Amazon on this site's home page).

He's enjoying his current projects and always developing new ways to keep things interesting and original. Do please join the mailing list for info on forthcoming gigs.
